Yep, that was my first camera. Although it is not suited for helmet use as it wobbles about a lot and is very heavy.

Miquel uses his on his handlebars. That is the best place.

Do you not find it strange that you can't film a long ride?

Matthew - where did you pick up the Contour HD for £100, if you don't mind me asking?

Not really. 3 hours is a long time and to be honest you can get cameras with changeable batteries, like some of the contour models (although not the one I have....). Buy another battery and charge it up, and you have 6 hours of filming, which is a lot at 1080p.

Please bare in mind that mine was second hand and had a few scratches on it. It has a few more now (from when I dropped it) so if I were to sell, I would be looking for about £70 (I am not selling though).
