helmet or handlebar for main light?

Sounds too much like that lot in the helmet discussion.

Is this the part where I insist my views are right and that you shouldn't wear a helmet as you'll ride more carefully?

I've seen the aftermath of this once, brains leaking most unpleasantly. It put me off ever doing it again.

If you want to do it then be my guest. I'm not going to fall out with anyone over it.

Main light for seeing with on handlebars on full beam and the smallest lightest blinking light on helmet for looking towards vehicles approaching junctions and roundabouts.

Both lights fixed to the bike rather than on me/bags. I have both in flash mode as I unscientifically think it helps me be seen more than a constant beam.

Side-on visibility has a part to play in side road pull-outs, so I suggest the OP also looks at spoke reflectors and/or reflective tyre walls.

If there's room, I tend to pull towards the centre of the road a little as I approach a car about to pull out which makes the bike look bigger earlier because the driver can see more of the side of it from further away.

Unfortunately reflectors won't help at all in this scenario, as they won't return any light to the driver until it's already far too late.

I have two lights on the front ,and the nearside one is turned very slightly towards the curb. This has highlighted my presence to cars waiting to pull out.
I still make eye contact with all drivers in this position and nod in appreciation if they have waited for only me to pass,before completing their turn.
