Helmets and Hill Climbing Etiquette

Pretty much as the title says. I seem to have been talked into doing a hill climb and wondered what the etiquette is in relation to helmets?

I am not interested on views as to the merits or otherwise of helmets so please don't turn this into an arguement.

I will ask one of the guys from one of the clubs that organises it.
