I have just taken delivery of my first ever folder. Been commuting on train with a full size bike but have had to resort to a folder due to work times changing and travelling at peak time. Anyway. Just unpacked my new Dawes Jack 2009 and I have a really embarassing question. Going to show my complete lack of technical knowledge here!

There is a plastic tube which seems to be stopping the seat post from lowering but I cannot get it out. I presume it comes out as it's not in any of the pictures of the bike. It's simply a white tube which is inserted into the seatpost tubing and sticks out of the bottom of the tube.....sorry if that doesn't make sense but hopefully someone with the bike will be able to help.

Doh.....why didn't I think of that. The excitement of a new bike has rendered my logical brain incapacitated.

Here it is:

and here's how the website pictures look - as you can see, not plastic bit sticking out of the bottome of the seat post stem.

Take the seatpost out completely and turn the bike upside-down.

It might fall out....

It's absolutely wedged. No way on earth it's falling out. Have tried everything.

Just phoned Dawes and they said it's simple brute force. No technique. Can't see how though as it aint budgin! Hubbie said he'll have a go this afternoon at hammering it out. Wish me luck! and thanks for your responses.
