Hello. I am a Newbie to this forum.

I recently bought an old Pinarello frame and am trying to identify the model and possible age.

My first steps along this path was to contact Pinarello and ask for info. The acknowledged my enquiry and gave me a ticket number. Since then, nothing. I tried Pinarello in the UK and the answer I received did not make any sense (1997 Stelio size 51)
The seat tube bottle mounts and Columbus stickers made me think the frame may be a Montello. However, I have been unable to find ridges inside the bottom of the seat tube. The rear dropouts are Pinarello. I am not sure about the head tube badge which looks like it may not be original. This should suggest late 1980s or early 1990s, but I think the rear brake bridge is from the early 1980s.

Any info would be much appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation.

Welcome @Hartwell
That's a lovely looking frame and a nice tube set .
It looks bigger than a 51cm frame size but 1997 looks good but I would have thought slightly earlier.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have been doing more research. Apparently the pump peg on the steerer tube indicates post 1985. The rear drop out with a forward hanger puts it pre 1989. So 1986-1988 is the verdict on age.
The frame size is 58cm
I have found rifling inside the base of the seat tube using a powerful torch through the slit in the bottom bracket. So that means SLX tubing which then confirms it is a Montello.
There is corrosion and scratches all over the frame. I plan to clean it up as much as possible before applying much wax polish. The rebuild and take it out for a ride. On a dry day.
