Got the C2W vouchers and going to get one of these bikes. That'll leave me with £160 for a few bits.

I'm mainly on quiet country roads and a few hills, maybe just a bit of stoney cycle path and some in London, other side of train journey. It'll be a 7m bike ride, 1hr 40min train and up to 6m bike to place of work, depending where I get off the train.

Or anyother ideas welcome.

Ah sh1t, the vouchers are Halfords but Pearsons (thank god) take them.
EB don't unfortunately. I'm getting mudguards, pannier and bag, going to use the tesco 3w for lighting.

The Sirrus is a great bike for the money. My Brother rides one in and out of work (only 4 miles for him, but he fitted a front mud guard and pannier rack for the rain)

They come with pretty good wheels for the money, and the tyres are pretty resiliant. Its not as light as a bike 3 times the cost but it rides smoothly, and iirc has 3 rings on the chainset for the hills.

Spend the extra money on good road legal lights, hiviz vest/top and a good helmet and shades.

Wow and I thought my London commute was bad (1hr 30mins, 2 x train and 1 x tube).

My new bike is sitting at Pearson waiting for me but I'm waiting for my vouchers, which won't come through for about another 4 weeks :-(.
