hey guys, iv had my bike for around 3-4 months now. i was inspired to start riding a few months ago and set out on the trail to find a second hand hybrid. however, through someone who my dad knows through work we were able to pick this baby up for £180 second hand. Now i have done some research and obviously i know about the make of the bike however i was wondering if anyone could help shed some light on this particular bike in terms of model, reputation, original price, how old ect ect
since geting this bike i have become a very keen cyclist along side my other passion of carp fishing.
Also, i would love some advice on anything i could add to this bike to improve performance or looks, i am thinking that i need to add some low key mud guards soon.
anyway, here she is.......

= "Competition" - which doesn't necessarily mean you'd use it for competitions, though I imagine people do.

There is a fairly common hierarchy of naming which goes [Nothing], Sport, Elite, Comp, Pro, etc etc. At any rate you can see that Comp fits into the upper-middle echelons of the range.

That's a great bike as has been said.

no theres nothing dodgey lol the guy who owned it before ha had done a lot of miles on it and i think he was upgrading, he also had changed the front geers from 3 cogs to 2, so he got rid of the lower gears to make it quicker or smoother or something, im not sure if it did make a difference as i never ride it before hand but i definitely know thart i could have done with them lower gears on this one particular hill i include into a few of my rides haha
Im properly chuffed to own this bike and i know that its a good bike especially to have as my first proper bike i would just like to know more about the function of it and what all the individual parts are called and stuff. It has definitely got me into the sport though, looking at some of the road bikes on here i would love to get a really good road/race bike in the future and bust it out on nice summer days.

If theres one thing negative about it is that i would say that i probably could do with it being a bigger frame, im 6ft4/5 and the seat is extended as far up as it will go but that kind of compensates for the frame i think.

In terms of shoes i just use normal longsdale trainers at the minute, i swapped the cleat type pedals for normal pedals when i got it as i dont have the specials shoes and i have heard about people falling off their bike because they cant get there feet off the pedals lol
I would like to get some proper shoes with a hard bottom allthough maybe not were you clip in

i work tuesday wednesday and sunday and i use the bike to commute most of the time, its a 6 mile ride each way. I also ride on some of my days off, i just rescently rode to southport with a few mates on saturday, 26 miles, then got the train home (the pace was a bit slower than i would have liked but my friends tend to include lots of breaks on the way haha), i think its a great way to exersice and keep fit

I would be looking at swapping it for a bigger frame, there will be someone with a similar spec bike that is too big for them. Or sell for the £400 ish that it looks like its worth and invest that in a right size un. I am a meagre 6'2 and hate riding little frames and find they do my knees no good at all.

I had one for my first bike. 2009 model that I paid £180 for too. Sold it in the end and got the Boardman CX
I found that the serial number on mine had been removed after i'd owned it for a few months. So at some point in its life I assume it was nicked
