Just to check lol. Should a hybrid match the geometry of a road bike? I thought this was different?

Depends on the bike. The length of your limbs doesn't vary. Some flat bar bikes are pretty much the same as a rkoadbike, some hybrids are more like a mountain bike

Compare the geometry of the speedster to your roadbike, the measurements are all in your link. It does say the TT is 54cm but if you are riding a roadbike with a 56cm TT, it will feel cramped because of the position of your hands, assuming you ride on the hoods and not just the tops

I always ride on the hoods, never on the flats.
The geometries are all the same apart from seat tube which is 52cm on hybrid and 56 on roadie. I'm thinking I could get a longer stem if I need more reach! This was 2nd hand by the way, real bargain and pretty much as new!!

It's only a bargain if it fits. What length stem does it have, versus the roadbike. What roadbike is it?

no idea on the stem vick. not to worry though because i will go back and double check it and do another test ride. Not buying it just because its cheap! its got to fit. youve helped a great deal and i know what to look out for and what the measurements are of my roadie. I once heard forget every measurement when comparing roads to hybrids because the whole ride style is different. end of the day its what feels comfortable. cheers

Model of bike really does matter but that does sound a little small. I'm exactly 5'10" and a 56cm hybrid (Giant) was just right for me.

Not a different style if it's a fast hybrid. Some flat bars have the same frame as the road model. Look at Merida roadies and see how they compare

great idea comparing to the road version and they are way different to my mekk bike! the top tube on my mekk is 54.5cm, the TT on the merida is 57.5 (both bikes are 56cm frames)

So if the 52cm is a 54cm TT, you'd need a couple of cm more of stem to put the grips about where the hoods are and perhaps a more angled stem, assuming same height head tube (which seems unlikely)

Easy enough to measure what you have
