The City is actually bearable and - dare I say it - pleasent when it isn't filled with cretins.
I did King's Cross to St John's Wood then down to Lambeth before heading back to King's Cross last week for work on my Brompton. It was fine- the hairiest bit was an underpass thing on the A40 (Near Gt Portland Street?) - won't be doing that again!
Best bits- Regent's Park, then along the Mall, Horseguards Parade, Parliament Sq. and then over Lambeth Bridge and down Lambeff Walk (Gertcha).- really enjoyed it. I had to grudgingly admit to myself that not all of London's that bad. Folks on the underground don't know what they are missing. I'd say a tourist trip around the sites on the most civilised form of transport known to man is a fine idea.
Off on a complete tangent as usual - but for any tree lovers, There's an enormous date palm tree on a roundabout at the start of Lambeth Bridge that I couldn't believe! Looks way too big to be moved indoors, (at least 25 foot) so must be there all year- amazing. Says a lot for the micro climate there. If I tried growing that beast here it would be dead by October!
