No modification - you unscrew the rubberised plate then fit direct to the hope bracket. You may need some silicone sealant where the cable goes into the body (I would do this).

fossyant - is the purpose of the inner tube to make the handlebar wide and harder for the light to slip?

Sorry - I'm not the mos technical person on here by a long chalk!

Yes, increases the diameter of the bar and is also rubber so grips the bar preventing slippage (wash off any talc as this will cause the tube to slip).

It's fine - many of us are "old dogs" and been about abit ! Old inner tubes have lots of uses. Certainly where lights are concerned

Update for you - the inner tube trick worked an absolute treat!! Stayed in position all the way home, in wind and rain last might.

You are geniuses :smile:

I do have a mount on order so will look at that when it arrives, but in the mean time, the tube is a life saver (quite literally).
