Help with new tyre sizes

I have a Ridgback Cyclone which I use for commuting. I'm thinking of getting narrower tyres for it (if that is possible) to speed up my journey.

The current wheels are Alex ACE-18 36h (whatever that means) and tehy are fitted with 26 x 1.6 tyres.

Is it possible to fit narrower tyres to these wheels? If so, how narrow can I go?

don't no if you will get any narrower .Try scanning net

I wouldn't worry about narrow, as much as I'd get rid of the knobbies, if you're only on hard pavement. A slick will make a noticeable difference, regardless of the width.

They are cheap and i found them a lot better than the bod standard tyres for handling and rolling resistance etc.In fact not had a puncture yet on them and part of my route is a cycle path ( i am not cycling on the 3 lane roundabout known for lane jumpers and people rushing home from work ) that regulary has glass on it

Less width of tyre the less force needed to turn in the long run saving energy as well as making haste

I would agree with city jets. Have had them on my MTB for about 2000 miles and no punctures (touches wood), even when riding on roads where the hedges have been trimmed.

Thanks - I thought the narrower the type the quicker the bike.

Can I go down to 1.25 width on my wheels?
