I second Potsys suggestion. There's a world of difference between the comfort/suspension from max psi allowed against min psi allowed.
I run my 35c cyclocross tyres at 80psi for my commute. Theres a cobbled road which I tend to avoid as it rattles me to pieces. However, I've taken the same bike off road through the New Forest, across moors, woodland, gravel, fire roads etc with the same tyres at 50 psi, and been comfortable and happy.
I've also once done the same cobbled road at 50psi just to see if it was different, and it felt like I had front suspension!
Downside is it will slightly sap your speed - but so would going back to wider tyres!
