They're ok around here, and working normally whereas RM have random and sometimes huge delays.

They do check size of parcels at this end...it cost me a few quid when a box I returned to a disreputable supplier of vintage bikes was classed as oversize, despite it arriving in said box by Hermes. Never got the money back from the seller.

My first "loss" was a wheel sent to me by the Specialized store in Chester, which somehow didn't get scanned in on collection and just vanished. It was in a wheel box so would have looked obviously like a pair of wheels.

My second more recent "loss" was components from a Spanish seller, which the tracker says were delivered the the PF depot at Preston on 9 May but never made it any further.

I've ordered some stuff through Wiggle who are very good and I have used them in the past. This time, it is Hermes who are "delivering" my order. According to Hermes website, they have tried to "deliver" my parcel twice and in fact they have the status down as "delivered". I have tried to contact someone on their customer phone number but it just takes me through all the automated system and I end up not being able to speak to anyone.

Has anyone else had experience with Hermes? I daresay that some folks would be put off buying from online retailers if they use Hermes.

I've had loads of Hermes deliveries in lockdown - never any problem.

Terrible company to deal with when problems arise. Stock answers that don't answer the question, then they close the matter.

My latest problem is a package was scanned at the local hub three weeks ago. It then never moved. After 10 days I messaged and they said there was a problem with the delivery address. It then arrived a few days later. The address label was clear and on the parcel.

Opened the package and found missing parts. We have pictures of the packaging as sent by the sender. The parcel has been opened in transit.

However, Hermes simply say their "specialist team" can confirm the package was delivered intact.

The courier told us they asked him to check for any missing parts in his van.

They won't budge and when I ask for more details of the delay, they refuse to answer.

Only a £16 baby toy sent by a family member, but this isn't the first parcel I have had issues with.

The local operator for small parcels is fine. However, Hermes 'Large and Heavy' appears to be in disarray; a bike from gucu on here has gone missing and a Wiggle parcel's disappeared somewhere en route to me.

I've had to claim for a missing bike frame which I sold via eBay. It turned up at the buyers two months afterwards.

That's what I would be doing if I'm the purchaser, it's not down to you to chase, it's not yours till you receive it, it's still the responsibilty of whoever is sending it.

I ordered a wheelchair from a famous river related* site.
Hermes failed to deliver it the day before my wife was due out of hospital, and for the next 4 days. So I cancelled the order, and bought from a slightly more expensive seller who delivered the next day. Three days later we returned from lunch out, the first since my wife came out of hospital. Some hours later I went to put some rubbish in the bin only to find a large box had been thrown over our 1.8m garden gate. The box was soaked, due to the rain and torn from passing over the gate.
I rang the seller where the amazon** assistant insisted I drop it off at a collection point for Hermes to return it to them. After several minutes of me asking to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor saw sense, I'd repeatedly explained that without my unboxing the potentially damaged chair there was no way I could lift it, and there was no way the box would go into our car. So they arranged for another carrier to come and collect it.

* I've not named them because it was Hermes at fault.
** I now name them because, even though they acknowledged that the item was cancelled by me, the money had returned to my account and they'd told Hermes to return it to them...... They were acting like complete dicks!

Our local Hermes driver is round our house so often I feel I know her!! They've now started collecting returns too so I reckon it's a decent service.

Now don't get me started on Yodel :boxing::boxing::cursing::cursing:

Our local Hermes driver is great she knows what to do if we are out always cheerful and normal calls about the some time.
She knows the dog always make a fuss of him and make sure the gate is closed.
I know it may not everyones experience but can only go on ours.

Recent label issues

Delays possible - Inform your recipients

Dear customer,

We hope that this email finds you safe and well.

We’re writing to inform you that we have recently experienced a technical issue which resulted in barcodes not generating correctly.

This happened to a very small number of parcel labels printed between 2pm on Friday 29th May and 10am on Monday 1st June. As a result, there may be a delay in getting parcels to those identified recipients.

Our systems show that you sent one or more parcels with a label impacted by this, which could result in a delay. You may wish to inform any recipients about this and that the tracking information for these parcels may be inaccurate.

We understand the inconvenience that this will cause and would like to apologise that we have not met the high standards we set ourselves on this occasion. We can assure you that the problem is now fixed and that any labels printed after 10am on the 1st June will not be affected.

Many thanks,

The Hermes Team

what bollocks, the name and address is also printed on the label, I bet they’re just short staffed. I use Hermes but they are a bit hit and miss

When you see the variety of vans with shifty drivers buzzing around it wouldn't be a surprise if some were supplementing their wages by allowing interesting-looking parcels to accidentally drop off the back. We approached a driver last week and he couldn't or wouldn't speak to us. I believe there's wholesale theft happening in the postal and courier businesses.

I get a fair bit by Hermes, local driver is great and will endeavour to deliver at least twice in a day (he is local) so occasionally a parcel will be marked delivered when he has it in his van for a later attempt (are they paid more for pre 4pm drop?). The Hermes website tracking seems to default to a previous delivery so I often need to clear cache and re-check. I think all delivery companies are struggling, RM are as busy as Xmas.

Legend has it that Hermes have special dedicated stillages that any mis addressed packages are loaded into so it's easy for them to be auctioned off - story is from a RM postie so hardly unbiased. Same postie says he considers RM ParcelFarce far, far worse than any other courier, and he sees them disappearing very soon!
