oi! You, outside now! (And yes I did cry when my chosen ratios were no longer available in Dura-Ace and I had to go to Ultegra)just as barking mad as paying hundreds of pounds to save a a few gm on the weight of a cassette?

I remember that three courses in the bar of the Derwent Manor hotel (yes, it is in God's own county, not the land of the Prince Bishops down south) was considerably cheaper.Wow, perhaps it's time I went out for a meal in the real world!![]()
I tried to book the Fat Duck once, the women on the phone had an air of arragance and complacency that irked me so much I told her not to bother and hung up. She pee'd me off so much I wrote a letter to a food critic about it. He replied that he had heard similar stories and that he was not at all surprised.
I booked the Waterside restaurant innstead, and had a lovely time and meal there.

Someone has deep pockets![]()
No, my pockets are standard size, I am just obscenely rich, and I like poeple to know it.
It's pretentious bollocks, and overpriced especailly if you consider the number of people in the world who would be more than happy for a bowl of rice or noodles.
not quite as outrageous as Man vs Food. sickening.

have you not heard of the fayre & square chain much cheaper and we have never had a bad meal in our local onesI've just checked our local chain pub (it's Chef & Brewer and one of only two pubs within a flat easy walking distance). I'd budget about £25 - £30 a head for three courses without drinks. Fancier pubs are available in the vicinity and are considerably more expensive - £40 in Bray doesn't sound out-of-line with what I'd expect.
Nearer to £50 for 2 courses & a drink each for 2 people near me.
Still £15 - £20 for a three-course meal without drinks - and the nearest one is half an hour's drive away. Whereas my local pub (the clue's in the adjective) is 10 minutes walk.have you not heard of the fayre & square chain much cheaper and we have never had a bad meal in our local ones

Indian comes to £50+,Chinese £60+,French bistro £70+,it is just the area.Normally eat out a couple of times a week.Only Michelin I can be bothered going to is in Portugal,it is only 10 minutes from my place.Villa Joya in Gale, only 2 star on Algarve.Umm, a thought..... Once a week meal out at a Pub with those prices or once a month at somewhere of the quality of the Fat Duck or other Michelin resaurant?
Personally, I cook better food than many Ghastro Pubs so once a quarter going to a "good" restaurant where I find ideas and food I cannot produce myself is my choice, plus regular visits to local splendid curry houses.
