What's been happening here then? I've just spent over a month up to my eyes sorting out my Uncles estate, be warned if you named as executor by any relatives, it can be a nightmare, my cousins were extremely difficult about everything shall we say. Finally got it all sorted, I don't think any of cousins will talk to me again though . It's good to be back at the daily grind.

My parents rang me to say I have been named as executor in their will .

I'm seriously hoping they outlive me.

Barnet,
I have been the executo twice now, once for the father in law, I didn't know I was until his wife told me on the day of the funeral so there was a lot of running around doing stuff that should of been done earlier. Then again when my Mum died two years ago, that was a lot more straight forward though.

Nothing much has happened! We had the Cricket thread and the Rivers one(of which much entertainment was derived on both sides of the arguments).

I'm hoping that you found the Revenue as helpful as I found them - nothing was too much trouble when I asked for help filling out the forms.

Welcome back. It's a pig isn't it? I've done it all, and I mean all, for both my parents in the last five years. Sort of talking to my bros and sister now. I say sort of. It's the only time I have been involved in a discussion where I was called the c word by my brother 17 times for wanting probate law applied correctly. But there you go. You can't choose your family.

Got away without using a solicitor, except for a property conveyance, until now. I now have a big life policy with trustees and they won't pay out except to a solicitor. Not a requirement by law to have a solicitor yet they won't pay out to the beneficiaries unless I instruct one at what will be some expense when you throw in the KYC checks. Can someone explain that?
