My name is Jon from Stockport, thought I'd better introduce myself after a long time reading and not contributing. I started cycling a few years ago after being told I had kidney disease in 2005. Got a cheapo mtb from amazon to get out and about due to anxiety issues that developed a couple of years later, and then a flat bar road bike from Decathlon which is down the road not long after. Had a kidney transplant in October last year, sold my motorbike and spent the lot on a Cannondale supersix 105 a few months later (ouch) and have replaced my stolen Decathlon bike with a triban 3. I also have one of those cheap Decathlon £99 mtbs after my amazon cheapo packed up a few months ago. Did alot of cycling earlier this summer but last month or two I have got pretty lazy..the golf I play hasn't helped.

Hi and :welcome:
Quite a time you've had there.
Time to get back on the bike me thinks.
Up to you of course^_^.
A nice ride out is always good.
Enjoy.

Hi @Jonbek and :welcome:

I'm glad you seem to have got through a rough time okay.

I think motivation on the bike comes and goes for most of us at some time or other. Apart from the odd storm (like today) you can quite often get some nice weather for riding in the autumn. I hope you can make the most of it.

Thanks guys, I've been doing abit on my mountain bike. I live very close to the river mersey so it's good to cycle down there and I cycle to the gym a few miles away. Need to get back on the road bike though, hoping to cycle a fair bit over the winter weather permitting and I've always got the trainer in the garage.

I'm not sure if you're saying the Golf is responsible for the lack of bicycle use or the anxiety. I know in the case of a mate of mine it's the latter on a bad day! ^_^
More seriously, I identify with the anx' issues, have a wealth of experience of my own and my partner's to share maybe sometime if its helpful

As for the other times well I really need to sort it out asap, it's very debilitating :cursing:
Thanks for the other welcomes
