I object to the newspapers calling it the "god particle" though!
It's going to be the cause of the dead rising, and earth being destroyed by a zombie apocalypse.......don't say i never warned you![]()
You forgot the return of Richard And Judy too.
Of course it does, that's why I don't see why it should be tainted by likening it to something religious rather than just using its proper name and leaving religion out of science.Dunno makes more sense than the bible!

Isn't it the same thing?
Apparently the convention is that the prize isn't awarded to institutions - a maximum of three people can share it.Higgs shares the Nobel prize with Englert today : http://www.kva.se/en/pressroom/Press-releases-2013/The-Nobel-Prize-in-Physics-2013/
Interesting that CERN is not directly recognised
Not quite the full story I think - there are details in certain Nobel prizes that prevent joint recognition but not in all, in particular not in the Physics prize. The EU got the peace prize last year right? There is no precedent of the Physics prize being awarded to a group before but I heard recently that it was not against the rules of that particular prize.Apparently the convention is that the prize isn't awarded to institutions - a maximum of three people can share it.
I think you should be better informed on the matter @Fnaar - here's some suggested material:I wish they'd called it the Higgs-Englert Humperdinck.
