High speed fibre providers

I've had enough of slow and intermittent snailband, as my family are growing up I think it's time for the move to fibre. Unfortunately virgin isn't in my area so have a choice between expensive mainstream providers such as sky and BT or choose the cheaper options of PlusNet, TalkTalk or EE

Does anyone have any good, bad or ugly reviews about any of those mentioned above, or even work for them so I can blag an outstanding offer?

I get my fibre from All Bran. It gives me a good run for my money.

To be serious for a moment....we've got BT infinity. Seems to do the job well. We get speeds of 65-70 (whatever the units are) most days.

Sadly they are the most expensive at £49 activation, £18.88 line rental then £20 for Internet.

Yes price vs customer service, that's why I'm leaving TalkTalk well alone, even though they are by far the cheapest

Sky and I've already tried. They aren't offering any deals which is a shame as I've been with them now for 10 years on the complete TV, phone and broadband package

Whichever provider you decide to choose you will not be getting true "fibre optic" broadband, as a general rule the fibre optic cable runs as far as the green junction box (still being rolled out in some areas) you see on the street corners, from there to your house the broadband signal runs through copper cable. The further you are from the junction box the weaker the broadband signal.

BT Infinity 2 - 78mbps. £53 per month. It works well as our broadband of 20mbs couldn't cope with my son/daughter playing games and any streaming at the same time. No such problems with Infinity.

We are fibre to the box round the corner and a short copper hop to our house.

Look out for deals on BT though, they usually have one every so often.

I'm with Plusnet, not on fibre though, been with them for several years, I've only needed customer service once, just after I started with them, and the problem was quickly sorted.

I'm with Zen internet. Not the cheapest, but outstanding customer service. All UK based and not script monkeys lol.

£43 pcm incl line rental.
12 month contract which automatically goes over to a rolling 1 month after that.

Shame you can't get Virgin. So very good and stable. Have you checked with them when/if they will be laying cable in your area?
