We've just gone to Virgin fibre (noted the Op problem) from Plusnet copper.

The difference is substantial for downloading.

Plusnet were good, never nearly as many drop outs and problems as talk talk gave us before them but when we called on a couple of different occasions to discuss improving our dreadful speeds, well below promised, they were disinterest personified. It was only on ringing to cancel did they seem to think they could bother to offer a better option.

I've switched to BT. £110 cash back through quidco at the time, worth checking. About £30 a month with line rental and BT sport through Sky. That's the Infinity 1 50meg, can't get and don't need more really (never get the promised 75 wirelessly from Virgin)

Looks like quidco for BB and calls is £90 at mo, plus £100 MasterCard spend

I'm leaving Virgin, same cost no sport, and I'm having issues with it. Indeed, waiting for them to come the second Saturday in a row, because the bloke who came last week didn't have the required new modem on his van and you can't get one any other way!

Sky and I've already tried. They aren't offering any deals which is a shame as I've been with them now for 10 years on the complete TV, phone and broadband package
You may find they can do something when you actually cancel with their retention team. I had the same with virgin a year ago

Virgin ok when it works. I had 3 or 4 days no web when they had a fault recently. Not acceptable when you potentially work from home

We have the Sky package at the moment but find the broadband a bit slow at times....just done Speedtest = Download 7.42mbps.....Upload 0.65 at the moment.
It'll be interesting to see how others fair here?

Is that sky fibre? Or their standard BB. If fibre, call them to run some tests as that really first sound right. Assuming you are wireless but close to the router?

Just signed up with SSE. Free 76mbps ultrafast fibre for 18 months when paying £16 for their line rental and £5 for an unlimited call package. Considering sky want £18 for line rental and BT want £18.99 it is an amazing offer.

I'll put it in my calendar to shop around in 17 months and play suppliers of against each other. Pointless having any loyalty to any of them, we are just a number on their profit/loss sheets
