High-Vis Jacket that won't cook me like a bag of Uncle Ben's?

Any recommendations now that the days are drawing in? Don't mind spending a bit but don't want to go daft - maybe £50-60.

Something that can take a light shower too would be good. My commute is only 5 miles but with not having shower facilities, arriving as cool as possible is preferable! Hate being steaming hot and sweaty.

5 miles, no shower? same for me. last winter I used a bright red ski jacket, lots of light on the bike. I found the ski jacket was waterproof even in heavy showers - then I washed it one too many times
Urban commuting, apart from a short lit stretch through the park.

Ground effect do a windproof gilet for about that. Seem to have stopped making their rain shell unfortunately.

The Montane Featherlite H2O gets good reviews and is around £50-60 , although a quick google suggests stocks are low (been/being phased out or replaced)

Altura Nightvision WINDPROOF, but it'll only be good for cool days. For most days even in the winter a Nighvision long sleeve jersey will probably be ok for such a short commute. The reflectives are really good on these, but you still look fairly normal in the daytime.

Thanks for your reccomendations everyone. I'm popping into town tomorrow to try some on so will see how they fit! I do like Altura stuff, I have a short sleeve jersey, a long night vision and a pair of padded shorts which are all good. Altura pro branded rider soon! . Will be going to a couple of lbs around Chorlton and south Manchester and to Evans in town. Cheers!

Hey I'm back from my shopping spree! I ended up trying on a couple of Gore ones but didnt like the material or how the back is all black (seems a bit daft on high vis??) and also the Altura Nightvision jacket but didn't like the material. In the end I went for the Altura Night Vision Windproof as per amaferanga's recommendation. I got it in bright orange in a large. I am very tall but quite slim and the XL was just right in the arms but far too big on the torso. The large fits great but is maybe a centimetre too short in the arms. I have daft long arms though so this is to be expected.
The material is really nice - wind proof in the front and breathable in the back. It certainly is very attention grabbing which is just what I wanted. Feels very good quality and surprisingly warm. I imagine just a base layer under this would be more than adequate on longer rides.

Will see how I get on on monday!

I bought this http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=12865 6 weeks ago and it's been brilliant!Ok i'm not a sweaty type so others might not be so fortunate. It does get slightly warm but there's no condensation to be found and the warm feeling is welcome rather than shivering and muscles tightening dangerously.
I've also been told that the reflective bits are "the best i've seen" by motorists i know. I've even had a plod car give me the thumbs up as they pass me,well at least i hope it was a thumbs up.

Must be cold up there in Accy if you are already using it - I've not progressed beyond a long sleeved Nike running top and either a light gilet or light windproof jacket yet!

I haven't much meat on so i'm a "starved un", as they say up here. I tend to wear it more at night for the safety aspect, and cycling home after 3 or 4 pints i always feel the cold after leaving a warm pub.

Worn over a jersey it isn't so warm, though it does keep the wind out which counts a lot. Worn over a light fleecy top it works well.
