Hi,

When i did hte fens ride I had some of thee from the feed stations...

I somehow managed to get a few more than was needed for the ride, so thought I would keep them for training rides. However, they only had a month at most of shelf life left. I guess wiggle supply stuff that is nearly out of date for the feed stations.

Does anyone know how long the shelf life is if you buy them as a boxed pack?

I think i will only get through 2 or 3 at most on a long weekend ride as they did seem filling, so I wouldnt want the box to go out of date before i had got through them.

Can't answer your question Paul but I really believe that use by/ best before dates on food is a load a bull.

A chap I know found one of his old Army ration chocolate bars the other day - from 10 years ago. He ate it and he's still alive. The bar will be fine for a few more months yet....

I found it a little boring to be honest. After the first 10 miles of turnip farms the next hundred all seemed the same. And the headwind... In every direction!

Not like the welsh rides where there is variety, either in effort or the views. The fens seemed like a 7 hour session on the turbo in your back yard.

Saying that, I did it with a mate that was a little slower then me, so I couldnt ride it how I wanted.

Its worth doing, but I dont think it will be an anual on for me, unlike the cheshire cat, wild edric or motion in mercia.

Probaly do it every 3 years or so to compare times.

i did the asthma uk ride two weeks before - my mate was a bit quicker than me, so i let him go so he could ride his way, he only done me by 10mins on both days, but we both had the enjoyment we wanted as we rode our own styles
