The Falkirk Wheel. It replaced ten or eleven locks to raise and lower barges and uses £10 worth of electricity per day to operate. I saw it operate and it took just under five minutes to complete a lift/drop.

It was a wonderful break with three surprises. I bumped into three colleagues, current and ex, in Edinburgh. Two of them were staying in the same hotel as us. Weird or what?

I didn't tell my colleagues that I was going to Edinburgh but it didn't stop me from bumping into three of them there. I will be returning to Old Smokie when the Surgeons Hall Museum re-opens in the autumn. I'll let you know when I I'm up next. A beer and pie tour sounds like a plan.
