I have unwittingly entered 2 hill climbs on the same day. I know i won't get close to the top guys who will smash the climbs in under 6mins.

Climbs are Clay bank and Carlton bank

Luckily the legs can get some rest before Carlton climb but is there anything to know as its my first time doing hill climbs

Hill climbs are the fastest method known to man of inducing yourself to vomit copiously :okay:

Don't go flat out from the gun even on a short climb, hold something back till you get half way up because if you blow early there is no recovery.

Good luck.

Someone asked me how I trained for Monte Grappa as I live in Denmark and our highest point is 145m. The answer is. Don't read about it or look at it on YouTube. When you get to the bottom turn the pedals in any gear you can, until you get to the top. Turning back is not an option as going downhill fast frightens me. I would think a hill climb would be similar.

Our club has two hill climbs but because there not too long or steep, the first is only 5% for 0.6 miles and the second 3.5% for 1.2miles. Lol I ended up doing them after a 37miles warm up, planned a gentle ride after yesterdays pb on a 10miler but it didn't work out that way  I hope you were more fresh Jamma and got the result/s you wanted :becool:

It's just power to weight ratio.

Best bit about Denmarks highest point is there's 3, the old highest point where they built a tower you can climb up, the actual highest point which is next door in the yard of the farm, and the actual actual highest point in nearby woods which they don't count as it's the top of a bronze age mound and man made. :-)

It sounds a bit like North Cape. Not really where it is.
