Shortish notice but (weather permitting) I'm going to do a loop which is more or less here, that is not without ups and downs and suitable pubs for lunch this coming Sunday if anyone is interested. It mostly follows the route of the Ride of the Falling Leaves, organised by Dulwich Paragon in the autumn.
Total distance from HPC would be around 74 miles although a variation through Penshurst adds a little. 1200 m climbing ( not all in one go ;-) ), with notable hills at Woldingham, Toy's Hill (not all the way), Chartwell, Sundridge lane going over the North Downs and Crystal Palace.
If there's interest, probably best to start from HPC at 9am.

Ah, yes, good point. Saturday would suit too but after this weekend I'm away for about a month and need to get some miles in my legs before that.

Please can I pencil my name down? I would love to do this but if you are doing it at the speed you charge up and down Ditchling Beacon on FNRttCs I will happily rub out my name! I am also doing the Northampton ride the day before so this would be really brill LonJog training - subject to speedster level. And if any other the other big names sign up - that Frank9755, Zigzag, Teef et all then I'll leave it well alone as you'll be dots on the horizon before I can say hello. And as for that LouiseL... Bus stops anyone?

Absolutely - speed is not the purpose. It's a very nice route in and of itself.

Having trodden on glass and incurring not only a pair of stitches but also a pair of crutches, I cannot ride or run anywhere for a week or so.
So Mice & rb58, I afraid that I won't be able to do this, had your possibles turned into actuals.
Hmm... Foot up in front of the tv for the time being for me.

Oh bugger, mate!
I was never up for this (although it attracted) due to other commitments - of which I think you know.
That's a real @rse.
I hope you heal swiftly.

OMG Thom - how horrid. You poor thing. Hope you make a speedy recovery. There must be something in the air at the moment - I (somewhat spectacularly even if I say so myself!) fell off my bicycle whilst on my Turbo Trainer on Wednesday. I hadnt rigged it correctly so 20 mins in, just when I was really going for it - Ooooooooooooooo... before I knew what was what I was crashing down on top of furniture. Luckily nothing fractured or broken (neither the furniture nor me) - just a swollen arm but it's getting better by the hour. Am hoping it will be ok for tomorrows "Flying Dodo's Northampton Ride". We shall see.

Glass in foot however sounds really painful. And also quite messy

It is absolutely no fun being unable to ride. You have my full sympathy.

At least we have a target though cos as soon as you are well enough I think there will be queue of us wanting to do this ride.
