Nasty! If you don't have any tendon or ligament damage you'll probably be all right in time for your trip. Heal quickly!
Yes all the important ligaments etc were avoided and I ought to retain full mobility but I feel lucky because apparently the glass went an inch and half into the soft tissue.

Yes, heel quickly, toe the line and get back instep otherwise you're going to find it sole destroying, Thom. (And I'll do your nut in!)
With the Vibrams, were you on the verge of going barefoot anyway? Just askin'.
Rest assured that my nut was done in by your first musical offering, which when read caused me to consider mailing admin to ask for a "dislike" button to be added to posts.
Should you want to see pictures of the stitches in my foot, I can message you what thankfully looks rather unremarkable now but slightly grizzly. The blood footprints you'll just have to imagine.
Barefoot running on grass or a sandy trail is a great sensory experience but not even I would do it on pavement.
If you like running then you should try it though. Or try using something like the Vibrams or even forefoot running in conventional trainers because once you've strengthened your achilles tendon and calf muscles, you don't get the musculo-skeletal impact injuries that often mess up knees permanently.
