That's mad mad mad.
Surely if someone mowed down a pedestrian and left them(for dead) then it would be followed up? Or would it?
I don't see why being a cyclist should be any different..

Good to hear it hasn't put you off though ;)

thank god you are basically ok. Its not much comfort but at least you wern't badly hurt . Sorry about your bike mate. You must be gutted.
I cannot understand what is wrong with people today. They would drive around and over you rather than stop and see if you are ok or not .
Why is this? it wouldn't have happened 25 years ago.

As for the Police I think that you will have to accept you were just unlucky to get two plods that are brain dead.

I really agree with the other comments about getting some legal help. Even if you went to CAB but there are lots of Solicitors in the back of the CW and C+ etc . Get them to do all the legwork for you.
Whilst it is all fresh in your mind make some notes ,time, date, witnesses etc take some pictures of the scene and speak to some shopkeepers . Have a look to see if there are any CCTV cameras around. They change recordings regularly

hope you are back on a bike soon.

Absolutely terrible Gazzaput! I hope the dickheads who did this to you get cancer! I wont bother saying follow it up with the coppers, I think we all know that in this country they are the main source of the problem rather than playing any meaningful part in the solution. ;)!

Errrr.....
Sorry to hear about this: nasty, nasty experience.

Back up the advice to join CTC and get a specialist lawyer on the case. Chase any CCTV footage hard and quickly. Better still, get someone to help chase it down as you need all your energy for healing right now.

:girl:! Hearing about this makes me very angry! I really do hope the polie pull their finger out. Depending on where you are it really shouldn't be difficult to find footage of the car in question. You shouldn't be expected to do their work. Anyway, I suppose we should wait and see what happens.

What matters is that you are ok (apart from your injuries of course!). Best wishes mate and keep us informed!

Aww crap mate, thats appalling! I'm so sorry to hear that, there's nothing you could have done to defend yourself from that and the cowardice of the pr1ck that hit you is abhorrent. Hope you mend soon and get the reparations you deserve!

Just call me Chris...
Really sorry to hear that

Although you're imjuries are horrendous, I can't help feeling it could've been a lot worse
Wishing you a very speedy recovery, I hope you'll be back out there soon.

Best wishes,

Gazza - listen in. Call the LAS and reqjuest a copy of the crews paperwork - make sure you get a CAD number and PRF number ( should all be on the paperwork that the crew filled in)

Get shoulder number of the PC that attended - ask for his pocket book entry and his AFP.

You may have to go to barbers and get a written statement from whoever saw it - write to local paper and find out who the 2 ladies were. Offer them a "reward" to come forward - then splash out on some chocolates and a bottle of wine. Get a statement of them.

Tell the police that as this is an FTS they have to investigate and you want CCTV evidence to be included - you need to do this ASAP.... most CCTV is looped for a week tops.

Did you go to hosp - if not - did the amb crew leave you some paperwork ?

Any questions plse ask and good luck.

Push the matter with police and ask if the TIU ( traffic) will be investigating.

All the best

Hey, get well soon dude.

And while you're at, let's hope you can track down the f*****g scumbag who did it to you and sue the shite out of them. Then get the rozzers to prosecute - get your lawyer to press for charges.

I know that stretch of road well. My late nan lived in Gavin House and I had a short-lived Saturday job in a butcher's shop opposite the Red Lion.

I think on the stretch towards the bus garage there is a bus lane, so there is bound to be CCTV footage. So act quickly. I'd get on to the CTC first thing.

A very nasty experience Gazzaputt, I can't expand on the advice you've been given above but I hope you're recovery will be quick and not too painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch, hope you're ok now the adrenalin has worn off. Sounds really painful.

Everyone has already given advice on taking notes, pursuing this etc. If it was me, I wouldn't rest well until the person was caught. If he/ she can do it to you, it may happen to others. On a personal level, I'd want payback as well.

Was it deliberate do you think? Either way, the not stopping business suggests they were uninsured. Vitally important now to get everything on paper, might also be therapeutic for you.

I can't offer you any advice but I hope your injuries heal up quickly. It's amazing how ignorant someone can be when hidden inside a tonne of metal
