I wonder how they get away with not honouring vouchers and Gift cards? Surely an HMV Gift card should be honoured, they've had the money and surely that's a contract to supply?

This Xmas I strongly refused to buy vouchers for anyone and where they asked for them they got real money. Glad I did this as one relative, a keen music buff, wanted... you've guessed it, HMV Vouchers. At least the Bank of England hasn't gone bust....YET!

Banks, by their very definition ain't shops

Don't be such a smart arse. They are as much shops as b/socs and estate agents. And of course they are mostly 'under' already. Under state management. Hence my whistly smilie thingie.

Your end up being a unsecured creditor, so your behind all the secured creditors when it comes when it comes to getting your cash back out of the business.

That's interesting, can you expand on that?

I'd thought that online sales and download streaming is what has killed off HMV, it's strategy to go into media and technology was not thought out so is this what you was refering to?

I'm not going to go into detail. But a lot of it is a case of bad buying and selling policy.

HMV is the only record store in Lancaster (Sainsbury's doesn't count, sorry). We used to have a few good indipendent record shops but HMV with its prominent position meant they couldn't stay open for long.

Good riddance I say. They sell sh!t to people with a sh!t taste in music.
