It doesn't work for me. The one time we went with friends was when our girl and their kids were all young, and if the kids weren't falling out, then the adults were failing to agree on where to eat, as various permutations of the group didn't eat various things. Oh, and if you did all agree on somewhere to eat, trying to find a table for 8 usually caused a bit of bother, in the height of holiday season in a seaside town....
Nowadays, Mrs Salad and I just like a decent walk, followed by coffee and perhaps a cake or a sandwich, then maybe a bus back to wherever the campervan is parked up. Then collapse for the rest of the day and read a book, or maybe tackle a sudoku puzzle. Bliss!

We've been on holiday with friends a few times and all got along great.

Some days you go off and do your own thing and others ho out as a group.

Just take each day as it comes.

Our two kids were young at the time but they were no bother and we all enjoyed a few games of boules and cricket etc.

I can't abide people who put on an act and try to be something else so that's probably why we all get on so well, including my wife.

Just all good honest people who say it like it is!.

I'll be doing the same this year in Cornwall with friends staying as well, will be nothing but a good laugh.

There's no way on Earth we'd holiday with friends. The only exception I can think of is you're travelling to a very specific event of a short duration - say a cycling event/route which would take a couple of days. But a main holiday - no way.

Here for rides.
The worst thing is going on holiday with Mr R's whole family...
Only ever did one trip with tlh's entire family, inc. parents. Iirc I spent most of the time hiding in my hotel room or going off on long solitary walks and visits to galleries, etc.. The crew is now significantly larger thanks to all the procreation that has gone on in last 25 years.
