Hi,

Looking for bike rack solutions - what are yours?

I live with 3 other cyclists, we all use our bikes every day. We have a small almost inaccessible area out the back and a front garden/yard which could take 2 - 3 bikes but is unsecure. We need to get the bikes out of the hall thanks to our landlord. Looking for cheap (ideally <£200) but secure solutions for the front yard. We could probably fix to the ground, but not the low walls cos of plants.

Any body seen / used any tidy solutions?

Thanks

Do you want cover from the elements? Do you want cover from view? A quality bike lock (which you probably already own) to a secure anchor point will be stronger than the secure fastening on a shed within that budget.

They are quite sheltered behind a hedge, so just some anchor points to which they can be locked would be fine. We have a tarp. They need to be individually accessible though - can't be shuffling the pack at 5:30 in the morning!

Something like this?

They're made by Pragmasis, website here:http://securityforbikes.com/index.php

I have no connection with them, but half of the firm posts as docsquid on YACF, which is where I heard about them.

That looks great Tim, but does it help them stand up? They gotta be free standing see...
Mix up some concrete and lay it in a box but put an old wheel & tyre in whilst it's setting, to leave a big depression, and then you've got a parking area to hold your front bike wheel, so the bike stays upright. Repeat that a couple of times for each bike, and then fit the ground anchors with some decent chains.

I've got 3 of those ground anchors from Pragmasis installed in my garage, and they're excellent.

Are you allowed to drill holes in the wall? Could you not get some of these?

All excellent ideas, thanks. Chris, unfortunately the wall is out of bounds! Good idea for work though - I will petition for them!
