Going to nip out at Lunchtime and have a look, but more interested in Perter Howson's Painting "Homeless Jesus" that is on display inside the church.

Glasgow has a really bad issue with homelessness right now ( As i'm sure many towns do) so anything that raises awareness is a good thing

s it a good way to highlight the problems of homelessness, or a waste of £25,000 to get it ?
I have to say i'm torn, I do think it is nice piece of art, but £25k would have bought a lot of meals
It would have been nice if the seat was a shelter so someone could get a dry kip under the big man
Again I like the idea, but I can't see them lasting very long, yoffs & drunks would kick the crap out of them, the shelter not the shelterer, I would also suspect the local residents would complain that all they will do is attract the homeless'

Yes, 10 years ago when I started here in Sheffield there was 2 guys I would see daily, now there is a whole gang, must be 20+, never go down wind if they are together.

My pronouns are "He", "Him" and "buggerlugs"
I would imagine the statue will prick the consciences of many and lead to donations over time that far outweigh that £25k.

Feed a man for a day and he'll be hungry tomorrow; encourage the community to feed every man, every day and there's no more hunger.

I'm not a religious person but since I was in the city centre today I had a look.

Have to say I liked it.
One immediately outside the Catholic Cathedral in Vancouver, along with half a dozen homeless men.
