who puts dairy in a flapjack?

I'm assuming that would be the melted butter.

The only recipes I can find substitute 'dairy free spread' for the butter. (I won't be trying this as margarine type things are nasty to cook with)

Perhaps using ground nut oil might work? (Assuming no peanut allergy) Or something with a stronger flavour, like walnut oil?

Edit: must type quicker

yep - marg type stuffs are horrible (to me anyhow). can't stand them and don't use them at all. Only need to exclude all dairy which means no shop bought ones becuase often they have hidden dairy in them (in the form of whey protein, lactose or skimmed milk powder as well as butter, not to mention they frequently get a chocolate or yoghurt topping).

To date oil seems to make it quite greasy and I used to have some really good vegan flapjacks made with demerara suagr that were outstanding, but can't locate the recipe anymore...

Oh - well, it was just a query to anyone out there who may make vegan ones... nothing more

Have you tried the Soya spreads (if I remember the brand name is Pure).
I haven't tried cooking with them yet, but so far they are a good butter alternative (well for me anyway).
