Hop or swerve?

So, you are riding down hill at anything up to 35mph in a straight line, you see a pothole ahead, its big enough to have you off at that speed but its a distance away you have just enough time to swerve or bunny hop over it.

Which is safer.

I try to go around them as my bunny hops are a little hit and miss

Depends on your abilities. A failed bunny hop would be catastrophic - but so could a dodgy swerve!

35mph is pretty quick for me even down a hill, so although i picked swerve for your circumstances, in reality with front suspension and 40mm tyres id probably ride through most potholes unless plenty of room to avoid.

I know it's possible to bunnyhop.... but I've never been able to do it.
I can swerve with the best of them though.
