On a ride with a friend of mine over the weekend and he told me about some cycle hate he's experienced.
He's a builder and he was running a job on a big house up in the Lake District. He was out on a run one evening and a van went past (leaving plenty of space apparently) and as it passed the passenger shouted out the window "WAAA****************EEEEER" which made him jump out his skin.
He recognised the van as belonging to a plasterer that he had asked in the day before to quote for a massive job on the house. He said the van turned off towards Ambleside and he knew from the time of day and the traffic he'd catch up so he went the same way.
He reached the van at some lights, pulled up alongside the passenger window and calmly asked to the shocked passenger "Sorry, what did you say?" after a few seconds of the passenger squirming he looked across at the driver who was the boss of the company and said "you obviously can't control your staff so don't waste your time submitting the quote I asked for"
He didn't get the quote submitted.
Love it.
