This morning I went for a longish ride and saw a very bad accident. It was on a main road and a car pulled across to go into a side road in front of a big articulated truck. The truck braked and swerved to such an extent that it turned over losing it's load and also hitting the car. The car caught fire and was totally destroyed, I don't know how many were in the car but nobody got out. The remains of the car were so bad that I couldn't say what the make of car was. Horrible.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you know why police ambulance drivers firemen and others who work on the roads have a weird sense of humour - it kept us sane.

christ! i assume all 3 emergency services were on scene and working?
i think i've only come across a couple or RTA's (Road Traffic Accidents)
1 was a car had come down a hill too fast and hit a wet right hand corner at the bottom of it skidded/lost all grip and hit a tree in the ditch and bounced back into the road blocking it to cars but not me on a bike. the other was a young lad overtaking me and my mum (also in a car) well too fast in the dark and wet/cold and just spun off in a corner and planted the rear end of his car in the ditch... although we probably don't get 10 police cars don't that road a year 30 secs after he crashed a copper off call came round the corner! and my mum reckoned she could smell alcohol on his breath
no one dead but the young lady in the first one was rather badly cut and might have broken one or two minor bones i forget TBH
Cheers Ed

Don' t take this as callous ... It isn't

Write everything down as you remember it in all the detail that you can

Your mind will block this out and edit your memory as part of the way that you deal with this

Unpleasant though it may be, your evidence is what will enable the facts to be ascertained and closure for the victims

Oh no, that's awful and I hope you are okay after witnessing that :hugs:
I still remember as a kid, (I was about 6) my dad stopping to helpat an accident when the car in front of us went under a truck (no survivors and a decapitation from what I was told when I was older).
I was stood of the grass verge shaking....the ambulance people had to treat me for shock.

you need to first chat to police and then they will recommend some counselling. Terrible thing to witness, don't be surprised if you have some sleepless nights for a while. Take care xx
