I'm off to the hospital tomorrow for a check up and to sort my bike out. I can't decide what to wear. I'm pondering over wearing a cycle jersey and shorts, in case i can ride my bike back home. Now i know i'm banned from cycling for a month but i wont really be cycling as it's all downhill from the hospital to home, so it'll be careful free wheeling that's all. The thing is i'll be elbow crutching it to the bus stop then a taxi from there to the hospital. I reckon i'll look a bit daft with cycling shorts and elbow crutches. So maybe i should wear casual shorts instead? Then again those in the physio' dept' where my bike's been left might twig what my plans are if they see my cycle gear, although i'd pacify them by saying that i'm missing riding so much that by wearing cycling clothing it makes me feel better, like i'm still riding, even though i'm not. Maybe a casual t shirt top and casual shorts would be better, though i don't like wearing such things when i'm on a bike even just going to the shop and back. I can't decide. What do you reckon i should wear?

Glad that your humour (at least I hope its humour, has survived the accident). Is the elbow crutch, alloy, titanium or carbon?? This could make a vast difference to clothes choice

Alloy. I saw them open the packets up, they're brand new!:hyper: Fortunately the bike i want to retrieve has a saddlebag fitted, so i can fold the crutches down to 28 inches in length.and put them under the bag's flap, securing them tightly with the straps and buckles on the flap.

Could do but it is an important part of the ensemble. You would be ditching around 40% of the sophistication.

You could always tie it round your waist, I imagine it would look fine like that.

Yes but what if the coat becomes tangled in the chain or spokes and i fall off the bike?
I'd end up back in the hospital and i'd be in for a real bollocking this time!!:ninja: :cursing:

What's the point in trying to be a smart **** with the medics? A few days ago you were in need of their skills and training, but now that you feel a bit better you are cocking a snoot at them and considering going against their advice.
Possibly a little gentle cycling would do you no harm, that's for the medics to say, but I think with your previous crash record they may be wanting to protect you from yourself, if you're not on a bike you can't fall off and aggravate the injury.
Dress casual in longs, why dress sporty when you are an invalid?
Shorts are for schoolboys.

There is actually very simple rule regarding what to wear when you go to hospital.

You should be able to take it out with minimum fuss when required to do so.

What that reveals should be presentable and modest.

Some say the same rule applies for going on a date.

Wear your cycling kit and be prepared for a rollocking.

I'd visited the spinal ward without wearing my brace a couple of MONTHS after discharge. Lets say the nurses snitched to the Specialist Practitioner Nurse, who rollocked me at our next check up, and told the consultant.

Bearing in mind you'll likely need to remove your shorts/trousers for a hip check, do wear underpants!

Are you seriously considering cycling when you have expressly been told not to?! Get a lift or taxi home with your bike

First of all can I say how lucky you are too have a Hospital that sorts out your bike as well!

The trick to any hospital appointment is how much you have to reveal!

Wear clothing that allows the Doctor easy access to the "area of interest"
