Never assume that your existing insurance provider will do you any favours.

They are all absolute ragged spivs.

This is perhaps a tad harsh….but the sentiment is definitely true!
There is nothing for loyalty in the game of home and car insurance.
On the rare occasion where the premium hovers about where it was, I will usually renew…
….but more often than not, it is off to TopCashBack, get comparisons, & usually lower the premium (or certainly beat the renewal quote) with up to £40 bonus for using TCB 💪

I got my renewal quote yesterday and after a few years of the same insurer being very reasonable with almost no change year on year, they have suddenly ramped ours from £304 to £394. No change of circumstances and no claims in the last year.

I shall be shopping around.

Update, tried Tesco Insurance (which is really a broker using the Tesco name) and they got it down to £352. Will have a go on Money Supermarket or similar in the next day or so to see if I can do any better.

I have now tried 4 comparison sites and 2 direct and most were rediculouse eg Avive who i was with 2 years ago just quoted me £820  .
I eventually went with CETE insurance @ £390 as I couldn't be arsed trying any more.
They have already emailed the policy and are posting hard copy. Also they promise not to auto renew.
