just watched this old beut on youtube and well worth a watch

interesting too see how they brazed the frame tubes with the lugs now a days they don't use lugs and weld don't they?
having done a fair bit a metal work and theoretical metal work it is interesting to see how they case hardened things like BB axles in the clay and sand
and finally, great respect to the man assembling the chap assembling hubs at that sheer speed!

Being Nottingham born and bred that brought back a few memories as my folks had friends who were working at Raleigh around the time the film was made. Sadly all that factory site has now gone to become a part of Nott'm Uni and all that remains is the head office building, which is now know as the Marcus Garvey Centre.

nice to know a bit about what happened to that building and factory as almost all frames that are mass produced these days are made abroad :sad:

but

jeez - fancy going in every Monday morning and facing another 6 days of putting ball bearings in a race
i know man!
they aren't even caged :sad: he chaps doing that job probably saw caged bearings in their retirement and kicked themselves for not thinking of it!
