Which bright spark thought it'd look better for a bit of paint?!

Painted over by a Philistine obviously - but then, it is Norwich, Socialist capital of the East where anything of artistic or historic value has been either torn down or painted over.
If you really like art deco you should go to South Beach, Miami, Florida. Fabulous!

I overnighted there on my way to fish specifically to see the buildings.

A couple of Art Deco upper floors in Gold Street, Hamtun, noticed while I was waiting for MrsPete to do a bit of shopping nearby.

Preston - wonder if it was built by the same lot that did @PeteXXX last pic, or for the same chain. Those 'columns' between the windows look the same .

What makes me like them even more is the fact that it's only the upper floors are Art Deco, the original entrances are boring shop fronts.

That'd be a good modelling idea!! 😋

Back in the late 80s I unsuccessfuly tried to persuade my parents to buy this when it was on the market. I wonder if the period bathroom has survived?

It has, apparently, an ‘interior designer’ owns it (or recently did)

I’m surprised at that projected price, it’s a lot less than ours is for sale at; https://themovemarket.com/tools/pro...e-234-lower-oxford-street-castleford-wf10-4ah

I found this too, not sure what year, given the price?

Can't believe I've only just found this thread. But anyway, a few images from a bike tour in Morocco a few years ago. These are in Sidi Ifni, which was a Spanish enclave (called Santa Cruz del Mar Pequeña) up until the 1960s, and was built as a planned town in the 1930s with its key buildings in Spanish art deco style. It is a fantastic-looking place.
