Not that hot in N. West. Been at the coast last 4 days,

Daytime, no problem. but the hot, humid nights are unbearable.

Portable air con arrived this morning so hopefully things will improve.

We live in a stone built cottage. Deliciously cool in summer, warm and cosy in winter. Just draw the blinds and curtains to keep the direct sun out. Result!

The Met Office have just announced the hottest day of the year so far: 33.9 just down the road from here in Writtle.
My unofficial thermometer is indicating 34.5, and here in the dining room it's 30.9.

I agree!

• Sub 13-ish, longs please
• 13-18 shorts are tolerable
• 18-22 optimal cycling temperature range, and shorts are highly desirable
• 22-25 tolerable, but only in shorts
• 25-30 is a bit too hot, but I can cope in shorts
• 30+ too hot for me. If mad enough to cycle, lightweight cycling kit only, including (obviously) shorts!!!

Warmest and driest spring and start to summer I can remember for years. Perfect cycling weather and I am fine riding even with temps above 30c. Not great housewise though as anything above 24 and mine becomes a sauna. Just sleep with a fan pointed directly at me!
