I bought a small pot of raw coconut chunks from Tesco.

The pot was in the sandwich section, so I thought it would make a lunchtime snack.

But how are you supposed to eat it?

The chunks are about the size of sugar cubes.

I've tried chewing two, but am rapidly losing the will to continue.

And another thing.

Is raw coconut good for me?

I tend to think nuts are - in moderation - provided they have not been roasted in oil.

Coconut is meant to be wrapped in chocolate and eaten in the form of a bounty bar.

Man up and chew down!

I have eaten half a coconut before with no ill effects (Other then a sore jaw), but with most nut/fruit a guess too much will give you a bad stomach...

+1. Everybody knows that!

I find that I tend to eat one bit of coconut, when ever Hubster takes it into his head to bring one home from Asda or wherever, then I chew it for an hour or so and remember why I don't eat it, unless it's in the form of a Bounty.

Ah, Tesco. I don't use them, but in superior shops the coconut has been with other, sweeter fruit which makes it palatable and a balance is achieved.

When I go out on long rides with a group in Manila we regularly stop at a roadside fruit shop(s) that has coconuts and other fruits. With the coconuts we first of all drink the liquid inside then eat the 'flesh' straight from the shell and it makes us good for quite a few more kilometres. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
