How close is this?

On my way home last night there was a merc driver oblivious to the outside world. I saw/sensed it coming but if I hadn't I don't think I would be sitting here typing away. It's so close and stupid it makes me smile in disbelief every time I watch it.

Hi can I just ask what lights you are using because I couldn't see any reflecting in the cars?

EMD, I take it you were turning right at a mini-roundabout - it's just too dark to tell. Maybe he did see you but not your signal to turn?

The left hook - I guess that's just a problem of being seen by a driver whilst you are cycling in the bus lane

If you watch the slow motion section and look at the side of the car as it passes you can't miss the light. It's a 5 watt Electron EHP315 5W + 10W. I've also got a BLT Ozone 9ine on my helmet.

That is exactly how I got knocked off last year. Luckily there was traffic around and neither of us were moving very fast, they still did over £300 of damage to my bike (I was fine).

The left hook was annoying but at least they were signalling, giving you chance to slow down.

Well either he did see it or he had total disregard for your safety.Perhaps he was on his mobile.Who knows.When I see a car just go straight through a red like last week and I don't think he deliberately jumped it I wonder,what the hell distracted him?
How did he miss it?

It's one or the other and as I wasn't there im not in a position to make judgements.

I was turning right. In addition to the lights I wear one of those white reflective snap bands for right hand turns, it is stupidly reflective and I've had a motorist comment on how bright it was. I also have a ID bracelet on which has M3 reflective stitching and a reflective logo on my sleeve. To miss me signaling would take someone "special"

Just the sort of thing that got me before Christmas - although I was committed and the spidey sense told me to swerve to lessen the blow - the cow was doing about 30 though.....

Nasty...really amazes you how these folk don't look. Had another cow try and push past me in traffic this am - in primary pulling up to standing traffic - she edges in...me 'Oi there is a bike here' - pull past her and glare.......TBH she was in the ruddy wrong lane as well, as she went to the outer lane 50 yards later to turn right....

Well as BM always says looks like we can't always rely on (lights and) Hi-Viz.

I find it hard to really judge as it's so dark in that video.

Yeah the camera isn't great in the dark and I've alreadt lightened it up a bit. To give a bit more info, I was actually on and half way around the RAB before he even reaches it. I honestly think that he wasn't aware of the RAB. There's a double thump sound just as he passes, I think that's his wheels going over the actual RAB. Don't turn the volume up to much or you may hear me muttering something to myself!
