Not sure it was my wifes 'mid-life crisis', not mine, but she bought a Jaguar XKR, as a early 40th birthday present (2008)

it certainly wasn't a car I'd ever considered, as much as they look good, & the V8 sounds reasonable
When she was looking for something, I took the opportunity & test-drove a few TVRs (Chimera, Griffith, & a Cerbera), to this day I wish I could have talked her into the 4.2 (the 'baby') Cerbera I looked at

We had it for about 3 & 1/2 years, but it only covered about 8,000 miles in that time
A few local boy-racers learnt, by humiliation, to keep out of her way, when she was driving it:angel:

My Landie, of the time, also pictured

My friend turns 40 next year. She plans to do an organised running or cycling event or race every month for the whole year. I will join her on the cycling ones - i don't do running!

Interesting that many MLC's result in expenditure.

As posted earlier mine was the complete opposite - just gave up what felt like a 'hollow' existence, chasing some materialistic dream, for one that feels substantially more rewarding.

Yes.................

Including a bike cellar.......

Make sure she takes to the fells, as part of it

Eileen & Daves events are a wonderful (relatively short) introduction to fell-races

'Stanbury Splash' in early January
'Withins Skyline' in October
'Auld Lang Syne' (New Years Eve)

Having read all the above, I realize I could never have had a mid life crisis: I didn't notice the time (of life)

Will the steam locos still be working? I'm sure that I read that they are very close to expiring? I hope not because I want to visit them too especially the Darjeeling and Himalayan Railway.

I have just reviewed my life for the last few years and realised that in fact I have had a long drawn out crisis regarding the buying toys aspects. I have had a variety of silly toys over the years including Porsches, Westfields, Shotguns, Canoes, Bikes, more Bikes, Parachutes, Flying Lessons, Boats. These all include doing silly things. I think that is the best way to do it - rather than having a meltdown, spluging all the money in one go and running off with the receptionist.

I won't have the worry of TVC running off with the receptionist, he married her
