My name is David Higson and I'm a cycle-holic. There, I've said it in public although I see little chance of recovery. I have an interest in restoring old three-speeds to their former glory. I ride a 1983 Dawes Diploma that I'm currently patching up. I also have a modern Probike Vintage and a Peugeot "Assagai" mountain bike from 1995. I'm glad to be part of a place that discusses bikes.

Whilst the bicycle that I'm currently lavishing attention on is the Dawes, I'm also "doing up" two roadsters for my wife, (a 1987 Triumph and a 1993 Apollo County.) Both of these are beautiful bikes. I hesitate to say "old" because I remember riding a similar Triumph back in my younger days and, of course, I'm not old
We're dangerously close to that N+ number at the moment as pretty much the whole family cycles and when my sons are home there's no room in the garage for the car.

Not suitable on hilly areas, as they are very heavy - mine is a 21kg single speed one, hub gears are available.
On the plus side, never needs cleaning or adjusting, you can wear baggy trousers or skirts
