Stage by easy stage explanation please and no jargon.
I've read about it in the FAQ's and still don't understand.
I've got the pic on my desktop.
Its file size is 295 kb width 727 pixels, height 964 pixels and it's a jpeg
I have a Mac, if that makes any difference
Sorry for being thick.

You know full well that this quote could quite easily start off a rather heated debate.:biggrin::biggrin:

A mass debate even! xx(:ohmy::ohmy:

I'm not a mac user, but I assume the procedure is the same...

Choose a photo hosting site. I use Photobucket, but there are others.

Register, and follow their instructions to upload the pic (on photobucket, I browse for the file name, choose it, then hit the UPLOAD button on screen. Very simple)

Once it is uploaded, you will see your picture, and under it will be several different sorts of links. Choose the one that starts with [ img ] and ends with [/ img ] (without the spaces), copy it (in photobucket, this happens automatically when you click on the link) and paste it into your post. The picture will appear at that point.

The other common option is the web link, where you copy the web address of the pic (which starts 'http:....') and paste that in, and people click on it. Better for images that people might not want popping up on screen, say because they are not worksafe, or require a warning....

Is that any clearer?

That picture is a bit on the large side to be putting in a post so it would be best to reduce it first.

You can resize the image on this website. The suggested maximum pixel size of 350 is probably about right.

This company will host the picture for you. You can just upload the image - you don't even have to register with them.

This is a picture of one of my bikes, hosted by me:

This is the same picture, shrunk by the first website and hosted at the second:

The two operations only took about 30 seconds.

EDIT: When you have uploaded the image to the hosting website, copy the new address of the image into what ever your Mac equivalent of the Windows clipboard is. When you write your post and want to insert the image, click on the icon which looks like a picture of a postcard at the top of the edit window. That will show a popup box for you to paste the image address into.

Hi

It will include a guide on the best size, format and method of posting them and should be here soon.
