how do you clean panniers?

Had some of these for over 6 months:

They are a bit grotty now fro. Several soakings and my canal path commute plus storing some sweaty clothes in them during the day (inside a plastic carrier bag). How do you clean them?

I bung mine in a bucket of soapy water and scrub , then leave them to dry on the washing line .

Good question when you find out let me know. Sounds like @cyberknight has the right idea. I might try that tomorrow.
