I've noticed porridge mentioned a few times, and wondered what recipe people use?

I used to love ReadyBrek when I was little, but now anything to do with hot milk just knocks me out straight away, so:

1 cup oats to 2 cups cold water, heat in a pan with a pinch of salt, stirring constantly to get it creamy (or gloopy, if you wish). For a bit of sweetness stir in some icing sugar.

One cup oats, one milk, one water.

For sweetening, soft dark brown sugar. If I have any, rarely, a dollop of yoghurt on top too, for sharpness.

I like the Jordan's Organic Chunky ones..
Same as that, only for a bit of sweetness I add St Dalfour jams (they use fruit juices instead of suggar), especially the Black Currant one. Sometimes I chop fresh fruit (strawberries or bananas are my favorites) and a bit of milk.. Nuts are nice as well, especially walnuts (in that case a bit of cinnamon and honey is a must!).

1/2 cup of Flahavans porridge, cup of skimmed milk, warm and stir, then 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon and honey over the top.........nice and healthy, apparently.

But do you keep it in a drawer? Apparently if you put your babies to bed in the drawer above the cooling porridge it helps keep them warm overnight #lovescotland

I usually soak it in water overnight... not because it makes it better or anything*, it's just that my mornings are tight for time, so it's 1 minute in the microwave, take out, stir, 30 seconds more in the mikey, take out, bit of milk, bit of sugar, maybe bit of natch yog if we have some in, and eat.

*having said that, the oats are all nice and soft by the morning, and I reckon I digest them more easily, but I may be talking through my hat, or possibly a rear orifice.

You lot are a bunch of pansies.

A couple of tablespoons of dry porridge rinsed down with a glass of water does the trick for mee. No cooking and no washing up to take care of.
