It is a very sad and ludicrous state of affairs that people have cycle such long distances to earn a crust. How can these people be in any fit state to do a days work. Have some common sense and move closer to where you work or find a job closer to your home.

Umm let me see. 30 mins (if lucky) sat in a metal cage costing £ 50 per week in fuel or 45 - 60 mins on a bike also saving gym membership ??

I am far more awake and ready to do a days work than most of those who turn up by car half asleep and stressed out by the journey in.

Is this your  ?

My effort is 9.4m each way, been doing it since April (it was a bit shorter than that before) and it is a great way to start and finish the day

I even enjoy working Saturdays now as I get to ride in and back

He's a troll, but unfortunately not even a very interesting one.

I love my various routes in - I have 4 different regular routes, which vary from 9 miles to 18. I tend to do either 24 or 27 in total in a day.

One of the main criteria for us when buying our house was that it had to be within a reasonable everyday commuting range but not so close that we only ended up with a couple of miles a day. We've ended up with a 17 mile round trip, which is about right. Any more and we'd probably end up taking the car in once a week to give us a rest.

i commute 16 miles each way. on two mornings or so, or if it's mega rainy, i catch the train, reducing it to 6 miles each way.

on a week like this one it works out at 80 miles a wk. not including club run.

My commute is about 12 miles-ish each way. I've just started a new job, and this will be my first year of "dark days" commuting. We'll see how it goes.

I drive in once a week as I visit a friend on Mondays and don't leave until late in the evening, and Mrs Kaipaith wouldn't appreciate me rolling in too late when she has an early start the following day. It also gives me a chance to bring in a fresh set of shirts for the week.

My commute is only about 4 miles a day at the moment... but I'm planning on moving to somewhere that will bring it up to a little over 10m.. I think I'm the only person in my office that wants a longer commute!

My new commute will mean cycling up constitutiion hill (by Buck Palace) in the morning. That is going to be hard work morning after morning....

@16-18 miles each way between Falkirk and Alloa, depending on what route I take. The climbs are pretty equal each way, although on the way home there's one climb in particular that on the return journey, is a very fast descent!!.

I love it, being a newbie to cycling, I'm still at that stage where I go to bed at night and get excited about getting up in the morning at 5:30am to jump on the bike and get going ( how sad is that??!!! ).

I work 4 shifts on/3 days off so I try and commute all of it, weather permitting.

Durham commute

My commute is 14 miles each way, in recent weeks I have been doing five days a week and love it, I find I get withdrawl symptoms over the weekend. I am hoping to keep it up through the winter but it will depend on the icey mornings cold and rain I can handle.

Why? It's not actually a hill is it?
