Never for one moment suggested that it was a magnet. I suggested that decent soap and hygiene would suffice

Oh, most definitely!

Well, as a representative of the opposite sex I can assure you that body odour never worked as a "magnet" in my case (and very often was a deal breaker)..

Phew! Just as well the internet knows no odour..

I've just sent one of my children to the shower and told them to use soap!!! (Their suggestion was that they just needed to put on deodorant! ) Apparently I am a cruel mother.

I have an aversion to the smell of deodorant, especially the cheap stale stuff.

Our senses are as a blunt knife compared to those of a cat or dog. So why is it that a dog will, when on a beach run, find the deadest, smelliest fish it can and then roll in it?

No, you are not! At least not until you actually make them wash their hair as well and de-make up before bed. Apparently they think that dry shampoo and salt water spray does the trick just fine and they can pull the mascara out with their fingers while having breakfast..

That's their way to camouflage themselves actually!
They can smell it fine, but rolling on it will cover their own odour and make them less detectable to their prey.

Stale BO makes me gag - but most "scented" deodorants, not to mention perfumes, aftershaves etc make me feel sick. I'm very much in the soap and neutral deodorant camp.

Message for the ones who claim they cannot smell their BO:
"It's only because you are consistently smelly mate! Your nose is designed to detect only new scents/smells/odours.
Shower daily (at least) and buy yourself a deodorant Pigpen!!! Oh, and wash your kit after use, don't leave it for the group rides only!! FFS!"

I can smell if my clothing is smelly, whether I'm wearing it or not. I'm constantly amazed that some other people don't notice that they are absolutely rank! Maybe it's because I'm a lifelong none smoker or that I'm just naturally clean, but in crowds you can smell some people at 20 yards!
