In my earliest burst of cycling enthusiasm, it was not uncommon for me to ride 20 miles before work, then meet up with the boys and do another 35—maybe three days a week. Racing on the weekends.
Today, if I do 35 miles one week out of three, I consider it heroic. Mostly, it’s 20-25 miles. I’m sure I’m not as fast, but then, in th’ ol’ days, how could you tell? No computer.
