Actually, the Le Monde site (which is what I usually go to for French weather) predicts a highest next week of 38C - on Tuesday. A bit more bearable. However French weather forecasts are notoriously innaccurate, as I have discovered.

I remember going to Death Valley on a road trip once.... we stopped at a place called Furnace Creek got out the car and I almost fell over (I wasn't even that drunk ) it was soo hot. Lived in Egypt for a year and it didn't get close to that heat...

It will cool down here to Toulouse's Wednesday temperature by the weekend.

The positive side of things is that being subjected to such heat means that I'll not find France too hot when I cycle across it at the beginning of August.
